About the song
"Not Just Yet" is a song about taking the next big step, and all the fears and doubts that come along with it. It captures the introspection that goes on during transitional phases of life, only to find that the answers we seek for our deepest questions reside within.
When I was Emma's roommate at the Jamhouse, she asked us all a question, "What is home for you?"
I answered with a song ~
'Not Just Yet' is a response to the question of where do I belong in this world, where do any of us call ‘home’? It is a mantra that dives in to where we may feel that calling, the doubts and fears along the journey laid before us ~ a mantra to help remind and guide the way.
Home has constantly changed throughout my life, one town to the next, traveling through different countries, communities and spaces. I remembered how often I had the feeling of home without ever technically being home and if I would allow it, home could be wherever I am,
"If home is where the heart is, I best keep breathing in."
The notion of breath in the song alludes to a place of healing and a way to ground while trying to answer life's big questions. A validation to take care of you first - building our home from the “inside out”, before we can take care of what's outside of ourselves and our control. It is an endless cycle and practice.
