From Mongolian throat singing to Beatbox Montreal

My mom showed me the basics of how to play bass and piano when I was a child. Although I only became passionate about making music in my teens, I struggled to make friends and used music as a method to stand out and make good impressions on my peers.
I started with a guitar because I was really into metal at the time but I found the learning curve unreachable and so I decided I would be a singer/screamer/squealer.

I started playing around with different intensities of constriction, shape, tonality and pressure. To my surprise I suddenly began doing what’s known as Kargyraa, a Mongolian throat singing technique. I practiced every day as much as I could.“Finally”, I thought, “This is what will make me “cool”.” So I began watching tutorials on other Mongolian styles like Khöömei and Isgeree, and in the suggested videos I would find beatbox tutorials. I began learning how create percussive sounds and how to keep my rhythm in the pocket, At school I was a hit in the hiphop clique, being the only beatboxer, I started making friends with lots of rappers, producers and graffiti artists.

I continued to add as many sounds, patterns, textures to my arsenal and found immense joy in my new found ability to create a symphony with just my mouth. How could it be that its taken this long for people to realize what vast instruments live in each of us? I needed to meet other beatboxers! And so I started a facebook page under the name Beatbox Montreal. I met this lovely soul known in the community as Spectrax, who was such an inspiration to my growth as an artist. He and I began hitting up open mics and busking. As the community grew, we organized beatbox and rap open mics of our own. Which led to us earning 4th place twice in the National beatbox battles under the name Lungz&Tungz. We then started hosting our own provincial battles and teaching beatbox to the youth.

I now teach beatboxing to all ages, online and in person.

I created my first album Ouais Not in 2022 on an RC505. The emotions expressed were different consistencies of despondency, jubilation, heartbreak, love, redemption and fear.

I'm now working on an EP called 'Oui Breathe' and an album called 'Pure Quoi'.

My sound and mission?

Upbeat and Grimey.

Its my duty to all fellow artists to share my expression.

The Jamhouse connection

In 2016, invited by a mutual friend, I shared in the most legendary jam/party I had ever been to.
By 2017 I had moved in and became part of the Jam Family.

The rest is history!
